I wanted to meet up with a friend in Temecula and of course, drink some wine. I was going with the kids and so I found myself on a mission to find kid-friendly wineries with great wine.
Now you might wonder, “Why would you really want to bring kids to a winery?” Because mama needs her wine! I’m a big believer in going places where your kids can have fun, but the key to making family trips or travel fun is looking for things that work for everyone. So here are the win/win wineries:
LONGSHADOW RANCH WINERY
Turn down a quiet road in Temecula and you will find a hidden gem of a winery. You turn down a quiet road and it feels like you are going to a ranch. As soon as we drove up, my daughter got excited because she could see the horses. Not only do they have horses, they have llamas, and even goats that you can feed!
I’ve tasted both outside and inside, and I actually prefer the outside. You can sit close to the animals (it didn’t smell in case you wondered). They also have a small playground and some open space, so the kids can play while you enjoy a glass. Tastings cost $15 for five pours.
Saturday nights are “Bonfire Saturdays”. These bonfires are family friendly and they offer a ranch style dinner for $10 a person (menu varies). Make sure you call ahead and or check their monthly calendar of events online before making your visit.
Hours: Monday-Thursday 11am-5pm, Friday 10am-5pm, Saturday 10am-5pm and Sunday 10am-5pm
Tasting Fees: $15 for five tastes.
WILSON CREEK
Oh, how I love their Almond Champagne! Apparently, everyone else does too. This place can get crowded so be prepared. There are wide areas of grass, trees, and covered patio tables. Buy a bottle and enjoy outside while the kids play. There are covered tables and a small play area outside. This winery is beautiful so even though it is big, it does get busy so if you go, go early. There is a bit of a walk from the dirt parking lot, so be prepared with a stroller if you need one.
Hours: open daily from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Tasting Fees: $20 which includes five tastes.

Tasting Fees: 6 Tastes for $20
